Easter Events

I know, I know - I'm the worst blogger eva!
This past week has been amazing, and full of friends and family. I couldn't have asked for a better "first Easter away from home". My mom and sister came to visit last Thursday through Easter Sunday, and they surprised me by bringing my best friend! Who could have asked for more? I had so many thing I wanted to share with them while they were here, felt like there wasn't enough time in the day to do it! So here's how our fun filled weekend went!!

THURSDAY
I picked Apollo up from the humane society, he no longer has his.. uh... little friends :) When I picked him up, let me tell ya!! He acted like nothing in the world happened to him. I was so happy, yet shocked. Not long after we got home my mom, sister and bff arrived!! Wooty Woot! :) Then it was a quick visit to Walmart... we definitely needed to get a small coffee pot. Justen and I are not coffee drinkers; therefore, there's no coffee pot in the house and my mom and bff are HUGE coffee drinkers! After wally-world we headed to a local "market". This local market at one time had a very large road side sign stating they have pomegranates, and I have been dieing for some!! Low and behold, we arrive, no road side sign and nothing but plants and outdoors things. *x EPIC FAIL x*  After that disaster is was time to head home.. and relax. We ended up "creeping" people's facebook pages and pictures, boy oh boy.. we had some laughs! About 3 hours of this, it was time for a delicious chicken, corn, salad and baked potato dinner! Yes folks, I purchased potatoes and helped my mom make them! AND... they came out great.. via everyone else. To round off one amazing day... we headed to my new addiction Sweet Frog. AHH! I love this place. It has 14-16 different frozen yogurts, and then an enormous "buffet styled" topping section, and everything is always fresh! Needless to say, everyone totally enjoyed it. :)

FRIDAY
Our original plans involved the safari park and a lovely mountain side picnic; however, mother nature had other plans for us. Trying to keep our chins up and make the best out of a horribly yucky day.. we headed to the Roanoke, Valley View Mall. Surprisingly, it was a very decent mall. Minus the curving, hilling drive to get to it. Then we headed downtown, and ate at a local restaurant which was so yummie!!

Then headed home for a new tradition I wanted to start. Normally each Easter, my family and I included pack our bags and head to New Jersey where my mom's family is from. So not being there this Easter, big change for me. We don't have anyone young enough for Easter egg hunts.. or anything.. and I didn't want to waste a bunch of hard boiled eggs.. SOOO.. the hubby and I thought about cookies! While shopping in our local Kroger, we saw sugar cookie mix.. making us say "yum". We grabbed some frosting, Easter cookie cutters, and sprinkles. So Friday night, we spent out evening rolling out sugar cookie mix, cutting, baking, then decorating! This ended up being more fun than I could've anticipated, so it is now a new tradition!! :) I'm soooo excited.

SATURDAY
Was the day!! We all woke up bright and early and.. the bff woke up bright and bushy tailed (if only you could've seen her hair :) ). Ate a yummy breakfast, got all squeaky cleaned and packed a delicious lunch. Then we headed off to Natural Bridge, VA to visit The Natural Bridge Safari Park, which is by far one of the coolest places I have ever been! The interaction with the animals is unbelievable, and sometimes the animals got a little toooo close.

We purchased our tickets and 4 buckets of animal feed and off we went!!!

THIS GUY GOT WAY TO CLOSE FOR COMFORT!

THE BFF GOT TO PET A BABY LAMA!!
BUT MY SISTER GOT TO PET A KANGAROO!!

The safari park was more then I could have expected and if you haven't been, you need to go. :) Better than any zoo.

SUNDAY
Was bitter sweet... I new the time would come, but who could have guessed so quickly. We made a big breakfast.. cantaloupe, chocolate chips pancakes, eggs, and bacon. mm mm yum yum! After that, it was time to say bye bye to 3 of the most amazing people I know.. but I knew I'd see them again soon, and I just thrilled they were able to come and spend this time with me. I love you guys and miss you already!!

New Friends..

Sorry for the delay in our updates. It's been busy, yet super slow out here for us recently. :)

One of our largest update - Justen officially sold his car, and it will truly be missed. The plus side to it, is we have been able to catch up on some bills and it even allowed us to pay some bills off. YAY!

We've recently become pretty close with a neighbor and his fiancĂ©, who are expecting their first child within a month.. a little baby girl Makenzie Grace.
So lately we have been hanging out with them, which has been so much fun.  They have actually gotten the hubby very interested in Frisbee Golf. SURPRISE! I never would have thought he'd be interested in that. lol But he is, and now we are looking to purchase a set of Frisbees just for him.
We've also done a lot of dinners together... we cooked hot dogs over a fire pit one night followed by some amazing s'mores. Another night, we had them over and we used the George Forman.. as it was raining it's butt off outside! And of course, we have had Mexican twice with them - mm mm good! It's a relief to know we've found a few very good Mexican restaurants near by, as we are HUGE fans of it. ahh! a FAV!

I also had my first interview here since we've moved. Thank goodness! Nothing fancy, but it'll be interview with the general manager of Cracker Barrel. The hiring manager is very interested in me starting in the "retail" portion of the restaurant, with a possible promotion to her assistant if she gets the position approved. So maybe!! The pay isn't what I'd like, but some income is better than none!

That's all for now. Other than - I get to see my mom and beautiful
sister in less than two weeks!
*does a super dorky happy dance*

More updates coming soon! <3

Happy 1st Anniversary

Happy 1st Anniversary to my amazing husband!!

I can't believe 5 years ago we started this amazing relationship, and 1 year ago we said I do - for a lifetime! Wow time sure does fly! I love you more than words can ever express, and I'm so glad we have been able to overcome those huge hurdles this past year.. only to make us stronger. Stronger as individuals and as a couple. Your not just my husband, but my best friend. I used to think it was impossible to love anyone has much as I love you, yet everyday that love grows stronger.

When it all started.. in the "Big B"

TO..

The day we said I do.

I love you so much and can't wait to celebrate more anniversaries with you. :)

My Best Friend

Today's post is a special dedication to a person who has made my life a little easier over the past 9 years.

HOLY COW! Has it really been that long? WOW.

Without this person, a lot of the oppsticals I faced in life, so far, I would not have been able to come. We've been through numerous nights of tears, laughter, no sleep, random 2am Taco Bell runs, m&m in noses, stealing batteries from my little sister's toys for the digital camera, car rides, Martina McBride outbursts in songs, mini random vacations, a wedding, heartache, and so much more. You name it, and we've probably been through it. :)

I met this person when I was in the seventh grade, through a mutual friend. We hung out, but we surely were not as close as we are today. We didn't become inseparable until about ninth grade.  At this time, there wasn't a thing on hearth I did without this person.

We learned how to put air in tires!

We've got each others back, no matter the situation!

We share horrible bad embarrassing moments together.

My Brest Frand. :)

Some know her by Jessica, but I know her by : mexican.meximelt.smelly.cuhcuh.life long partner.brest frand.stinky.mommy jessica.stink.
Never afraid to be who you are, and to do what you want. Thank you for always being there for me, even when times were rough. Those moments of crying and laughing over.. now stupid things, but then big things.. those memories are the ones that will never be forgotten. Thank you for always dropping everything just to be there for me. Thank you for helping me and sticking by my side through all of my wild and random wedding bridezilla moments.

Mostly, just thank you for always being you. I love you best friend and I always will... always and foreverrrr.... each moment with you!
Now what best friend has their own song?! LMAO :)

Happy Birthday Jessica! I'm sorry I can't be there with you and help celebrate, but it's only a matter of time before we see each others faces :) And no matter the distance, your always in my heart, and on my wrist. Yes, I do still wear my bracelet! I hope today is everything you deserve and more. I love you!!!

PS : I totally listened to our song like 20 times while making this post :)

Natural Bridge Zoo..

I've been meaning to get this post on here since this past weekend! So here it is :)

This past Saturday, March 19 we decided a day out in the beautiful sunshine would be good for both of us. Then the decision what to do.. we looked at some different things around us to do, and this attraction popped up on my screen! I was so excited. I know that's a huge kid thing, but when it comes to zoos I just looooove them.

However, as we walked through the zoo you could definitely tell it wasn't the "typical" zoo I'm used to. I was great - and they allowed you to get reallllly close to a lot of animals. It was their environment. Some were a lot smaller than i'm used to seeing at the Norfolk Zoo. Made me sad for those little guys, but the ability to get so close to them kind of made up for it! Every corner we turned there were chickens. It was like being on a farm! Chickens EVERYWHERE. haha
Among the millions of chickens we were able to see :
    White Bengal Tigers
    Regular Tigers
Camels - HUGE ones and little ones
    Elephants
    Zebras
    Llamas
    Ostriches
    Multiple species of Monkeys
    3 HUGE Snakes
    BUT load of Guinea pigs
    Mountain Lion
    Big Goats and BABY Goats!
and soooo many more!

One of the best parts was being able to feed the animals. Well most of them. Justen got close to them, more so than I. I was to nervous! I didn't want any of those animals to bite me. So next time we go back.. which will be soon.. I only say soon, because...... they do elephant rides annnd baby tiger pictures! Ahh! So we will be going back to partake in those fun festives, and of course the brest frand will be coming. :)
*DOES A CRAZY, ECSTATIC, HAPPY DANCE!*

Overall, the zoo was pretty decent. I did make a note to myself to NOT wear flip flops on my next visit. :)
